Elizabeth Carey Letton, 83, Carpenter Road, wife of Harold R. Letton for sixty-three years, died Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at her home. She was born July 21, 1926 in Savannah, MO, daughter of the late John E. Carey and Gertrude Todd Carey Henderson, was a graduate of Savannah High School and received her BA Degree from the University of Kentucky. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority, founding member and past president of Carlisle Women's Club, member of the Argali Society, past president of the Millersburg Elementary PTA, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Carlisle. She is also survived by a son, Harold R. (Nancy) Letton, Jr., Carlisle; a daughter, Lucy Todd Letton, Lexington; three step grandchildren, Lawrence E. Goodwin, Jr., Amy C. Hern, Mark F. Goodwin; and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 25, at the Carlisle First Baptist Church by Rev. Adam Schell, Rev. Kevin Thomas, and Rev. Michael E. Carlisle, with burial in the Carlisle Cemetery. Casket bearers will be William Case, Donald F. Coffman, Lawrence E. Goodwin, Jr., Herbert Sledd, Allen Sparks, Tom Metcalfe, J.W. Hundley, Allen Smith, and Stewart Smith. Honorary bearers will be Jack Metcalfe, W.R. Kingsolver, W.R. Buntin, Jr., W.V. Burroughs, B.G. Hughes, Amy Hern, and Mark Goodwin. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Carlisle, or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
