Emma Jean Sosby, 92, widow of Earl Bryant Sosby, Sr., died Friday, October 9, 2009. She was born March 15, 1917 in Nicholas County, daughter of the late William Elmer "Pete" Carter and Tilda Elizabeth Kimes Carter. She was a retired bookkeeper for CGH Trucking Company in Winchester, KY. She was a two time named Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by seven loving children; two daughters, Nellie June (Glenn) Jenkins, Judy Carol (Michael) Juett, both of Winchester, KY; five sons, Earl Bryant (Jean) Sosby, Jr., John William (Janice) Sosby, of Paris, KY, Robert Paul (Doris) Sosby, Howard Thomas (Ada Buckler) Sosby of Winchester, KY, and David Irvin (Linda) Sosby of Nicholasville, KY. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and four great, great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Paul E. (Pearl) Sosby of Paris, KY; two nieces; and a nephew. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home in Paris, KY conducted by Reverend Jim Hutchison with burial in the Paris Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 12, 2009 at the funeral home. Her sons and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers with grandchildren, Dr. Murray West, and Mrs. Pat Ameche serving as honorary pallbearers. Memorials are suggested to the Bourbon Heights Activity Fund or a charity of your choice.
