Frances Whaley Burberry, 92, Hawkins Cummins Road, homemaker and retired farmer, widow of George McDaniel Burberry, died Monday, April 2, 2007. She was born October 29, 1914 in Larned, KS, daughter of the late William and Leila Thompson Dillon. She was a graduate of Russell Cave High School and attended the University of Kentucky, was a 72 year member of Old Union Christian Church where she was a member of the CWF. Survivors include a son, George Thomas (Vickey) Burberry, Bourbon County, 8 grandchildren, Allen, Darrell, Cliff, Dwayne, and Eric Burberry, Alicia Earlywine, Jim and Ben Rankin, all of Bourbon County, 16 great grandchildren, and 11 great great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by a daughter, Leila Burberry Rankin and a son, Danny Dale Burberry. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, April 6, 2007 at Old Union Christian Church, by Rev. Scott Winkler. Interment will be in the Old Union Cemetery. The grandchildren will serve as casket bearers. Honorary bearers will be members of Old Union Christian Church, Vickey Burberry, Dr. James L. Ferrell, Edwin Caswell, James C. Rankin, Jr., Kenneth Hixson, Clyde Glen Burberry, Clyde David Burberry, Everett Calvert, Martin Lynch, Brenda Kelly, Pat Stanfield, Sharon Padgett, and J.C. Fuller. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Old Union Christian Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
