Frank Swim Lawrence, 87, formerly of North Middletown, a retired firefighter at Lexington-Bluegrass Army Depot at Avon, U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, died Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Bourbon Community Hospital. He was born August 30, 1928 in Nicholas County, son of the late Bruce and Mary Swim Lawrence. Frank was a graduate of Paris High School and was a member of North Middletown Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He is survived by his wife, Polly Grimes Lawrence, Paris; a daughter, Connie Lawrence Mele, Louisville; a son, Bruce Wayne Lawrence (Gary Barksdale), Lexington; a sister, June (Bud) Talbot, Bourbon County; and several nieces and nephew. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Lawrence; and a sister, Helen Lawrence Hamrick. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, at the North Middletown Christian Church by Rev. Stephanie Moon with burial in North Middletown Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Mike Grimes, Mark Lawrence, Roger Wilburn, Dean Blackburn, Michael Wagoner, Olin Barksdale, Robert Gafney, Tom Boone, and Ryan Lawrence. Honorary bearers will be Wayne Wagoner, Jim McFarland, Charles Johnston, William G. "Bud" Talbot III, Reuben Turner, Bill Lyle, and the Christian Men's Fellowship. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Memorials are suggested to North Middletown Christian Church.
