Frank Kelso Wassom, 85, resident of Liberty Ridge Senior Residential Community, formerly from Paris, KY, died Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital. Frank was born January 27, 1925 in Spring City, TN, to James Charlie and Edith Belle Stuart Wassom. He was reared in Paris, KY, graduated from Paris High School in 1942 and received degrees in the areas of mathematics and commerce from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Kentucky and Northwestern University. He was also on active duty with the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1954. He worked in several cities in the fields of accounting and auditing, then returned to Paris and worked as an internal auditor at the University of Kentucky, retiring in 1992. Frank is survived by three sisters, Miriam Heflin and Barbara Smith, Lexington, and Shirley Smith, Owensboro, KY; and two brothers, Clyde Wassom, Paris, and Charles (Theodora) Wassom, Dewitt, MI; 13 nieces; nine nephews, and their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Wassom, Anna Stewart; and a brother, Perry Wassom. Visitation will be Saturday, January 29, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, Paris, and services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday with Chaplain Justin Key officiating. Burial will follow at the North Middletown (KY) Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Bruce Heflin, Mark Heflin, David Smith, Mike Smith, Trevor Steele, and Josh Mitchell. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 1317 US Highway 62E, Cynthiana, KY 41031, or charity of one's choice.
