George Earl Lucky, 73, beloved husband and father, passed from this world to his heavenly kingdom, Friday, January 11, 2008 at the Hospice Care Center. George was a State Certified Boiler Maker and was well known in the city, county, and state school system for his many years of expert work on high steam boilers. He was devoted to his work and considered his service a pleasure. He also worked for many years in the family business of Lucky Brothers Machine Shop. A native of Bourbon County, he was born August 9, 1934, a son of the late George Earl and Dorcas Smith Lucky, Sr. a graduate of the Paris City School, a member of the First Church of God, and a proud 50 year member of Paris Lodge #2, F&AM. He was survived by his faithful, loving wife of 51 years, Utevia Minyard Lucky; a daughter, Kathy Lucky Duff, Paris; three grandsons, Geoffrey (Jennifer) Bills, Newport News, VA, Brandon and Brian Bills, Haines City, FL; one precious great granddaughter, Cheyenne Bills, Newport News, VA; a sister, Dorcas "Suzy" (John Robin) Smits; sisters-in-law, Helen and Zereda Lucky; nephews, Bobby, Ken (Angie), and Ernie (Julie) Lucky, David (Crystal) and Travis Smits; and nieces, Doris (Allen) Williams, Sue (Wally) Roe, and Kitty Jo (Ronald) Brown. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and three brothers, Bob, Jack, and Bill Lucky. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Hospice Chaplain Ed Salerno and Rev. Charles Shrewsbury with interment in the Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be David Mefford, Sonny Cloyd, Bob Wilson, Bill Tipton, Joe Shriver, Ed Fitzpatrick, Jamie Stanfield, and Chris Rose. Honorary bearers will be Harry and Catherine Craig, Jewell and Juanita Shephard, Jouett and Jennie Faulkner, Fred and Karen Keller, Ann Fitzpatrick, Kevin Crump, Donnie Foley, Liz Rose, Bill and Violet Cole, Judy Richardson, and T.J. Wright. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday with Masonic Services at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
