Henry Scully Coons, 89, of Paris, retired postal clerk of the United States Postal Service of Paris, U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, husband of Carolyn Arnett Coons, died Thursday, May 7, 2015. He was born November 9, 1925 in Lexington, son of the late James Edward and Mary Annetta Scully Coons and a graduate of St. Mary School and Paris High School. He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Annunciation, where he was a former member of the Adult Choir, Holy Name Society, and was affiliated with the Scout Group. He is also survived by a daughter, Elizabeth Annetta Coons (Heath) Buckler, Paris; and two grandchildren, Claire Marie Buckler and Caleb Thomas Buckler. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Edward Coons Jr.; sister, Jean Marie Pollock; a nephew, Chet David Coons; and a niece, Patricia Jo Coons. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, at the Church of the Annunciation, Paris, by Rev. Daniel Fister with burial in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Paris. Casket bearers will be Bill Bussell, Paul "Zach" Hurst, Donal Isaac, Jim Baber, Phil Hanrahan, and Gregg Coons. Honorary bearers will be Sam Balsemo, Edwin Woods, Dr. Robert Biddle, Kevin Crump, Steve Tobin, Jamie Courtney, Allen Ivy, and Donald Hutson. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Catholic Church of the Annunciation with a Rosary Service at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Church of the Annunciation or to Annunciation Organ Fund.
