Herbert Cecil Harney, 61, Escondida Road, farm manager for Green Valley Farm, U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, husband of Vicky Bretz Harney, died Monday, December 20, 2010 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He was born April 1, 1949 in Carlisle, son of Christine Blake Harney, Carlisle, and the late Everett Marvin Harney, a graduate of Bourbon County High School, and was a member of Ruddles Mill Christian Church. In addition to his wife and mother, he is also survived by two daughters, Sherry (Scott) Berryman, Bourbon County, Crystal (Stephinie) Harney, Paris; a son, Daniel Shawn Harney, Bourbon County; seven grandchildren, Celina Wright, Austin Wright, Nikki Ring, Taylor Ring, Kourtney Ring, Alyshia Danielle Harney, Jade Costa; two sisters, Helen Rose Blake, Paris, Carolyn (David) Kearns, Florida; four brothers, Bob (Ingrid) Harney, Florida, Dave (Theresa) Harney, Clark County, Ronnie (Charlene) Harney, Bourbon County, Scott (Dana) Harney, Millersburg; and a son-in-law, Clark Ring. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Denise Ring; and a brother, William Marion Harney. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 24, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Sam Chanslor with burial in the Carlisle Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Dustin Harney, Rodney Harney, Timmy Harney, Chris Gillispie, Joshua Bretz, and Darren Bretz. Honorary bearers will be Mike Hearn, Baine Robertson, Ottis Florence, Steve Florence, Steve Florence Jr., Bobby and Ann Traylor, Denise and Rechia Joseph, Woodford Spears and Dorothy VanMeter, Woodford Spears and Sons, Edward and Virgie Hollar, Chad and Kim Stanfield, and Brad Stanfield. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday.
