Hermal James McKenzie, 67, Sledd Street, North Middletown, retired mechanic, father of Vanessa (Andy) North, died Friday August 20, 2010 at his home. He was born June 27, 1943 in West Liberty, son of the late Ernest and Jewell Caskey McKenzie, and was a member of the North Middletown Church of the Nazarene. He is also survived by two sisters, Janice (Wilburn) Dale, North Middletown, Linda (Gene) Steele, Millersburg; two special friends, Tommy Scott, North Middletown, Thelma Martin, Mount Sterling; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a special friend, Alberta McKenzie. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Cordell McKenzie with burial in the North Middletown Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Donnie Foley, Tommy Scott, Scotty Perry, Jimmy McCarty, Gary Caskey, and Marvin Shelly. Honorary bearers will be Andy North, Gene Steele, Wilburn Dale, Tommy Johnson, Dickie Osborne, and Mike McCord. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
