Hobart Spivey, 84, former owner of Spivey's Sporting Goods, U.S Air Force veteran of the Korean War, husband of Barbara "Bobbye" Eldridge Spivey, died Thursday, July 30, 2015 at the Hospice Care Center. He was born May 21, 1931 in Bourbon County, son of the late Luther and Miranda Winburn Spivey. Hobart was a 1949 graduate of Paris High School, former member of the Civitan Club, and was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Michael (Trish) Spivey, Austin, Texas, Gregory (Toni) Spivey, Carlisle, Richard (Donna) Spivey, Plano, Texas; six grandchildren, Kimberly (Benjamin) Allen, Bradley Spivey, Todd Spivey, Chad Spivey, Sydney Spivey, Nicholas Spivey; great granddaughter, Jasmine Fulmer; a great, great grandson, Sebastian Grammar; and a brother, Dennis (Rosalie) Spivey. A sister, Irene Campbell, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 4, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Jeff Bell with burial in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bourbon Heights or First Christian Church.
