James Bassett Barton, 67, Winchester Street, antiques dealer and U.S. Navy veteran, died Saturday, November 6, 2010 at his home. He was born September 21, 1943 in Carlisle, son of the late Gaylord and Jimmie Barr Barton, a graduate of Carlisle High School, and was a member of the Carlisle First Christian Church. He is survived by cousins, Betty Caywood, Lexington, Anne Johnson, Louisville, Rachel Mastin, Carlisle, Dorthea Thompson, Danville; special friend, Sue J. (Joseph) Conley, Carlisle; and several great cousins. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, at the Carlisle Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, NCAWS, or the Nicholas County Historical Society.
