Jim Smith, 81, Ruddles Mill Road, U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II, widower of Marie Jackson Smith, died Thursday, November 8, 2007 at the Hospice Care Center. He was born February 25, 1926 in Breathitt County, son of the late Stephen and Jane Miller Smith and was educated in the Harrison County schools. Jim is survived by a daughter, Victoria (Ken) Almeida, Harrison County; a son, James (Emily) Smith, Paris; eight grandchildren, Cheree Profit, Paris, Crystal Rose, Cynthiana, Charleen Almeida, Cynthiana, Christopher Almeida, Cynthiana, Jacob (Amy) Smith, Georgetown, Amanda Smith, Paris, Savannah Smith, Paris, Landon Smith, Paris; and five great grandchildren, Johnathan Denniston, Madison Denniston, Kendra Rose, Skyler Mullins, and Abby Smith. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 16, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Dan Russell with entombment in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Casket bearers will be Lafayette Gant, Wilbur Smith, Joe Hamilton, Dexter Price, Randy Rice, and Noble Lee Smith. Honorary bearers will be Jacob Smith and Christopher Almeida. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday.
