John William Sosby, 73, Parkway Drive, husband of Janice Hill Sosby, retired farm manager for Claiborne Farm after 47 years of service, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 at St. Joseph Hospital. He was born May 4, 1938 in Bourbon County, son of the late Earl Bryant and Emma Jean Carter Sosby. John was a 1956 graduate of Bourbon County High School, a member of Hutchison United Methodist Church, and served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 12 years. He is also survived by two sons, John "Tony" (Lydia) Sosby, Timmy (Terri) Sosby; two daughters. Kim Jones, Kristie (David Jay) Shelley, all of Paris; six grandchildren, Megan Kincade, Christin Jones, Andrew Sosby, Nicholas Sosby, Miranda Sosby, Stephanie Sosby; four great grandchildren, Makenzie Kincade, John Avery Kincade, Remington West, Wyatt West; three brothers, Earl Bryant (Jean) Sosby Jr., Paris, Howard Thomas (Ada Buckler) Sosby, Winchester, David Irvin (Linda) Sosby, Nicholasville; a sister, Judy Carol (Michael) Juett, Winchester; a sister-in-law, Doris Sosby; three brothers-in-law, Glenn Jenkins, Teddy (Charlene) Hill, Hank Hill; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, at the Bourbon County High School by Rev. Don Reed, Rev. Dan Russell, and E.J. Caswell with burial in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Casket bearers will be Andrew Sosby, Nicholas Sosby, Seth Hancock, Arthur Hancock, Jim Friess, Jim Allen, Billy Purcell, and Dr. Murray West. Honorary bearers will be Ronnie Tipton, Jim Cleaver, Don Menke, Donnie Foley, Donnie McCarty, Judy Hutson, John Plummer, Jimmy Morris, Dell Hancock, Clay Hancock, Mary Allen Hedges, Jim Lovell, Buck Woodford, Larry Joe Tipton, Edmond Boyle, Willie Johnson, Bernard Reinsmith, Dr. Jim Klyza, and the Bourbon County Fair Board. Visitation will be 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the school. Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, Central Baptist Church, Hutchison United Methodist Church, or BCHS Athletics.
