Juanita Williams Speakes, 78, Redmon Road, widow of Harry Davis "Sonny" Speakes, Jr., died Friday, January 5, 2007. She was born December 12, 1928 in Bourbon County, daughter of the late Edward and Lillie Bly Howard Williams and was a graduate of Connersville High School. Mrs. Speakes was a 57 year member of the Ruddles Fort Homemakers, a Kentucky Colonel, a 4-H leader, and was a member of the Ruddles Mill Christian Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and was active in the Patty Moreland Missionary Society. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia S. (Gordon) Wilson, Paris; a grandson, Gordon Davis Wilson, Paris; a granddaughter, Laura Camille Wilson, Paris; a sister, Dorothy Williams Farris, Paris; and two aunts, Rachel Reynolds, Paris, and Elizabeth Hawk, Winchester. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 8, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. John McGuire with interment in the Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Bruce Bailey, Dr. Forrest Fightmaster, James David Mastin, Ray Brannock, Mike Williams, John Coleman, Steve Farris, and Ed Hollar. Honorary bearers will be Ronald Chanslor, Ralph Linville, Gene Kiser, and the Ruddles Fort Homemakers. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Ruddles Mill Christian Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
