Sarah Louise McIntyre Layson, 98, widow of Zed C. Layson, died peacefully at her home of 71 years in Millersburg, KY on February 19, 2007. She was born on Christmas day, 1908, the daughter of William Duskin McIntyre and the former Maggie Coleman Marr of Hendersonville, GA. She was raised in Millersburg, attended Millersburg Female College, and graduated from Randolph Macon Women's College in Lynchburg, VA in 1930, where she was president of Delta Delta Delta Sorority, and an honor graduate of the English Department. She was a loving mother and homemaker, and a loyal member of the First Presbyterian Church of Millersburg. She served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, President of the Women of the Church, and Circle chairman. She was also very active in many civic and charitable organizations as well as the Millersburg Garden Club. She is survived by her three sons, William M. (Lex) Layson, McLean, VA, Zed C. (Pamela) Layson, Winter Park, FL, Charles B. (Diane) Layson, Lexington; and 13 grandchildren, Felicia (Tony) Evans, Great Falls, VA, Scott (Diane) Burson, Cupertino, CA; Hana L. (Adam Davis) Layson, Chicago, IL, Jacqueline F. Layson, San Diego, CA, Erik A. (Karen) Briceno, Vienna VA, Jason Briceno, Vienna, VA, Neil (Amy) Kramer, Reston, VA, Ingrid Kramer, McLean, VA, Katherine A. (Ted) McCrea, Ashley E. (Brian) Vann, Zed C. (Heather) Layson, III, Evelyn Wilson, Ben Wilson, all of Winter Park, FL, John R. (Kate) Gebo, Chicago, IL, and Michael A. (Marcia) Gebo, Royal Oak, MI; and 11 great grandchildren. Other surviving family include four nieces, Mattie (Robert) Kirkpatrick, Millersburg, Carolyn Proc (Custer) Blair, Carlisle, Beth (Mike) Flannigan, Scottsdale, AZ, and Suzanne (Ricky) Mingua, Paris, KY. The family would like to express gratitude to her loving caregivers, Teresa Applegate, Arizona Dailey, Ruby Bussell, Renny Saunders, and Anna Cassity for their kind, devoted care. Louise will be remembered as one who had a loving and generous heart, not only by her family, but also by the many others she loved and helped in her various roles. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February, 22, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, Paris. Funeral services will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Millersburg Presbyterian Church with burial following at the Millersburg Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Bill Harney, Proctor Blair, Rob Kirkpatrick, Brian Mercer, Rick Mingua, Bill Hickman, and Terance Fowler. Honorary bearers will be Jeff Layson, Charles Owen, Jim Owen, Bob Kirkpatrick, Custer Blair, and Mike Flannagen. Contributions may be made to the Millersburg First Presbyterian Church.
