Lula Wilson Richard, 92, a retired registered nurse, died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Bourbon Community Hospital. She was born December 4, 1921 in Boyle County, daughter of the late Ervine Madison and Mary Ellen Deskin Wilson. Lula was a graduate of Parkesville High School and the Louisville School of Nursing and was a member of Saint Peter's Episcopal Church. She was the last nurse to practice at the old Massie Memorial Hospital, worked for 44 years at the Bourbon County Hospital, and served as a caregiver to many people. Lula is survived by a son, John Edward (Athena) Richard, Paris; two granddaughters, Ashley (Derek) Osborne, Paris, Katie Richard, Winchester; two great grandchildren, Grayson Osborne, Case Osborne; special niece, Trish Taylor; and special companion, Edward Perkins. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Stanley Richard; sister, Louise Wilson Rankin; and four brothers, Howard, Thomas, Ernest, and Melvin Wilson. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, at Hinton-Turner Funeral by Rev. Bill Kilgore with burial in Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Eugene Thomas, Steve Rankin, Wayne Wilson, Howard Wilson, Derek Osborne, Charles Holmes, and Calvin Collins. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday. Memorials are suggested to Saint Peter's Episcopal Church, 311 High Street, Paris, KY 40361.
