Luther Harris Davis, 88, a farmer and retired warehouse manager, husband of Dorcas Kiser Davis, died Monday, September 14, 2009 at the St. Joseph Hospital. He was born March 8, 1921 in Fayette County, son of the late Harris Prewitt and Edna Buchanan Thompson Davis, a graduate of Athens High School, and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Luther was a 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite, Louisville, Oleika Shrine, Lexington, former Past Master and Treasurer of Paris Lodge #2, F&AM where he was a member for 31 years, member of Hope Lodge, F&AM in Little Rock, past president of FFA, member of Bourbon County Farm Bureau, Bourbon County Fair Board, 4-H Council, and was a former Boy Scout Leader. He is also survived by two sons, H. Miller (Janie) Davis, Mark D. (Rebecca) Davis, both of Bourbon County; a sister, Elizabeth Wright; a brother, Joe Prewitt (Minnie) Davis, both of Millersburg; four grandchildren, Michelle (Daron) Thornsburg, Miller Chadwick (Frances) Davis, Eric Mark (Melissa) Davis, Sean David (Jennifer) Davis; and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Kiser; and a brother, Ray Thompson Davis. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 17, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Gary Huffman and Rev. David Chumney with burial in the Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be his grandchildren and Steve Fightmaster, Bruce Dillon, Steve Wornall, and Michael Dillon. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday with Masonic Rites at 7:30 pm.
