Marion Edward "Pappy" Wells, 88 years old, son of the late Harry B. and Ida Lee Carter Wells, passed on to a better place on Sunday, April 29, at Bourbon Community Hospital. He was born in Bourbon County and was a 36 year employee of Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Lee Opal Morris Wells; a son Marion Edward "Bud" Well, Jr. and his wife Janet; a daughter, Sandra Elaine. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Yolanda (Tim Hunter) Estes, Jimmie (Sally) Lockhart, Jr., Simone (Matt) Gerwin, Rob (Teresa) Wells, and Marty (Kim) Wells. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Francisco Estes, Andre Estes, Katie Lockhart, Trip Lockhart, Parker Wells, Clayton Wells, and Gracie Wells. He is survived by four sisters, Anna B. Link, Ruby Linville, Nina (Donald) McClain, Margaret (Harold) King; and a brother, Lindberg (Helen) Wells. He was preceded in death by sisters, Stella Browning and Ethel Blake; brothers, Harry Wells, Elmer Wells, and Dean Wells; and a great grandson, Cameron Wells. He will be missed greatly by all those named above, his numerous nieces and nephews, and the many friends he leaves behind. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Chaplain Stewart Dawson of the Lexington Fire Department with interment in the Paris Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
