Mary Margaret Clark Lowe, 100, died Friday, February 4, 2011 after reaching 100 years on May 26, 2010.

She was born May 26, 1910 near Little Rock, Kentucky, daughter of the late W. Troup Clark and Irene Burris Clark; she graduated Little Rock High School in 1927. At a tender age, she taught school at one-room Cane Ridge; attended Transylvania College in Lexington for several years, where she met and married C. Oral Lowe of Morgan, Kentucky, a new minister of the Christian Church, in 1931. She supported his ministry in churches in West Virginia, Illinois, Virginia, and Kentucky for 50 years, as soloist, choir director, teacher, women's leader, and youth sponsor. She taught music in public schools for over ten years, in Illinois and Virginia. They retired to Paris Kentucky in 1975, but she continued as a faithful substitute teacher in the public schools until his death in 1995. She moved to nursing homes in 1999 to be near her children, in Kansas and then South Carolina.

A Kentucky Colonel and longtime member of Paris First Christian Church, she leaves behind three children: Betty Kay McFarland, now of Castro Valley, California, Stephen Clark Lowe, now of Greer, South Carolina, Charlotte Jane Bocox, now of Lenexa, Kansas, and11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Smith, Helen Hough; and a brother, James Clark

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 8th, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, Paris. Pastor Jeff Bell will conduct services at the funeral home at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 9th. Burial will follow immediately at North Middletown Cemetery.
