Mary Ruth Moore, 95, widow of Bourbon County civic leader J. B. Moore, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the Lexington Country Place. She was born March 14, 1912 in Nicholas County, daughter of the late Daniel P. and Eva Gillispie Thomas and graduated from Centerville High School. Mary Ruth was an active member of the Paris Lioness Club, participating in the eye care program for children, held various offices, and was named Lioness of the Year (1967-68). She was also active in the Homemakers Club, served as a hostess for numerous lawn parties for her church and friends at her home, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Paris. Mrs. Moore resided at the family historic farm, Bayless Place House, for over 60 years. The family expresses special appreciation to all of Mrs. Moore's caregivers. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Ann Moore of Lexington. A private graveside service was held at the Paris Cemetery Chapel at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, by Rev. Jerri Williams. Memorial contributions are suggested to First United Methodist Church, 617 Pleasant Street, Paris, KY 40361.
