Mary Grace Wills, 84, formerly of Paris, passed away Friday night in her Lexington home. Born August 20, 1923 in Troy, NY, Mary was the daughter of Earl and Loretta Stevens and the wife of the late Charles J. Wills for 61 years.
She is survived by her 6 children: Michael (Karen) of Florence; Timothy (Becky) of Lexington; Mary Patricia (Russ) Whitney of Georgetown; Monica (Clayton) Smith of Springfield, Va.; Steven (Teresa) of Owensboro; Kathleen (John) Ellison of Lexington. Other survivors include her sister Patricia Stevens, Troy, New York and fourteen grandchildren, T.J. Amy and Richard Wills; Will and Katherine Mustian, Lucy Wills; Jon-Michael (Shelley) Whitney, Peter (Jessica) Whitney, Meagan and Kate Whitney; Chas and Christopher Smith; Mathew and Emily Wills; and one great-grandchild, Miriam Whitney as well as a host of dear friends.
For over 50 years, Mary was an active member of the Church of the Annunciation, Paris. She also served as president and member of the following organizations: Bourbon County Homemakers, Blue Grass Garden Club, and her church's Women's Club. Also served as a Girl Scout leader and was the ombudsman of the Bourbon Heights for many years.
Visitation will be held at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home Monday, March 17, from 5-7 pm with rosary to follow. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 am Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at the Church of the Annunciation, Main St., Paris. Concelebrates will be Rev. Daniel Noll and Rev. John Curtis.
Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Paris. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Annunciation Garden Fund, the Wallis Home Arboretum or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
Pallbearers include John Ellison, T.J. Wills, Will Mustian, Matthew Wills, Jon-Michael Whitney, Clayton, Chas and Christopher Smith. Honorary pallbearers include Russ and Peter Whitney, Eddie Gorey and Richard Woodall.
