Patsy Sue Mitchell Herzog, 78, Edgemont Drive, widow of Charles Peter Herzog, Sr., died Sunday, March 28, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born June 12, 1931 in Paris, daughter of the late Joseph Perry and Allie Johnson Mitchell, a 1950 graduate of Paris High School, and a graduate of Fugazzi Business School. On January 18, 1951, she married Charles Peter Herzog and they began their life together in Louisville, where they had three children, Linda, Gail, and Charles (Chuck). She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with friends and family. She was a giving and loving mother to her children. She adored and cherished her grandchildren, and loved and cared for her special pets, Mac, Wally, and Rudy as well as many adopted animals who found their way to her back door. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where she was a member of Tinder Harris Circle, Lynnwood Bourbon County Extension Homemakers, Bourbon County Garden Club, Blue Grass Garden Club, Historic Paris-Bourbon County, and the Stoner Creek Country Club Ladies Golf Association. She is survived by a son, Charles Peter (Laurie) Herzog, Jr., Memphis, TN; two daughters, Linda Herzog, Paris, Gail (William) Stroner, Janesville, WI; six grandchildren, Clayton, Corey, and Allie Stroner, Kelsey, Alyssa, and Charlotte Herzog; a sister, Bettye Joe Mitchell Florence, Paris; two nephews, Leon and William; a niece, Laura; many cousins, great nieces and nephews; and her dearest longtime childhood friends who were always there with laughs, love and unwavering support. She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, William Florence; and a niece, Sharon Watts. Her unselfishness, kind, and beautiful smile and generous ways will be missed by all of us who knew and loved her. Mom and Grammy, we love and miss you. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Apr 1, at the First Christian Church by Rev. Jeff Bell with burial in the Paris Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Leon Florence, William Florence, Charles Herzog, William Stroner, Clayton Stroner, and Corey Stroner. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or PAWS.
