Paul Carter, 89, Hutchison Road, died Monday, November 02, 2009 at the Central Baptist Hospital. He was born July 5, 1920 in Bourbon County, son of the late George Samuel and Pearl Rankin Carter, attended Ruddles Mill School, and was a member of the Ruddles Mill Christian Church and the Millersburg Masonic Lodge. Paul was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and recipient of the Purple Heart and the Philippine Bronze Star. He is survived by six nephews, Jeff (Melissa) Carter, Bourbon County, Ray (Julie) Carter, Lexington, George Rankin (Barbara) Carter, Lexington, Allen Parke (Becky) Carter, Lexington, Gary Wayne (Sue) Carter, Cynthiana, Nicholas Lee (Lois) Carter, Paris; a niece, Brenda (David) Shewmaker, Florida; and special friend, Betsy Meteer. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Mullen; and four brothers, Julian, Rankin, Bob, and Tommy Carter. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Charles H. Kemp with burial in the Paris Cemetery. His nephews will serve as casket bearers. Honorary bearers will be Carol Arnold, R.J. Nixon, Jr., Shuck Tucker, Sr., Ronald Chanslor, and Isaac Keller. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Masonic Services at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
