Ronald Edwin Chumbley, 80, retired superintendent for the Paris Independent School system, husband of Sandra Staimpel Chumbley, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Bourbon Heights Nursing Home. He was born February 18, 1935 in Akron, Ohio, son of the late Kenneth and Hazel Stephens Chumbley. Ron was a graduate of Lindsey Wilson Junior College, received his Bachelor's Degree from the University of Akron, and received his Master's Degree and Rank I from Western Kentucky University. He was a U.S. Army veteran, member of Paris Lodge #2 F&AM, Kentucky Education Association, active in the Retired Superintendent's Association, Bourbon County Senior Citizens Association, and was a member of First United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by three sons, Michael Allen (Ally) Chumbley, Paris, Dr. Eric Matthew (Amy) Chumbley, Dayton, Ohio, Brent (Jennifer) Chumbley, Radford, Virginia; four grandchildren, Megan Chumbley, Sam Chumbley, Katy Chumbley, Alex Chumbley; a sister, Alice Lora; cousin, Jack Lawless; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday, October 17, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home by Rev. Gary Graves.
