Ruth Smart Elvove, 67, Pleasant Street, wife of Louis Jacob Elvove, died Sunday, May 30, at her home. She was born October 18, 1942 in Carlisle, daughter of Raymond Palmer Smart, Maysville, and the late Jane Alexander Smart. Ruth was a graduate of Paris High School, attended Lincoln Memorial University. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Historic Paris-Bourbon County, Jemima Johnson Chapter D.A.R., Central Kentucky Garden Club, and served as a volunteer at the Bargain Box. She is also survived by two daughters, Whitney Jane (Sam, III) Clay, Emily Ann (Sam) Roe, both of Bourbon County; five grandchildren, Sarah Paige Roe, Sam Taylor Roe, Samuel Clay, IV, Hannah Ruth Clay, Jacob Palmer Roe; and three sisters, Nancy Palmer (Jim) Cline, Frankfort, Elizabeth Baxter (Randy) Runyon, Oxford, OH, and Catherine Jane (Jamie) Wells, Johnson County. A memorial service will be held 5:00 p.m. Thursday, June 3, at the First Christian Church by Rev. Jeff Bell. Visitation will be 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Friends and family are invited to gather at the Elvove home, 902 Pleasant Street, following the service. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass or Historic Paris-Bourbon County.
