Virgil Jones, 86, retired IBM employee, U.S. Army veteran, husband of Mary Sparks Jones, died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Saint Joseph Hospital. He was born May 7, 1929 in Bourbon County, son of the late Ellis and Hazel Trimble Jones. Virgil was a graduate of North Middletown High School, formerly owned and operated Dairy Queen in Paris and Aberdeen, Ohio, held a private sailplane license, and was a member of Aberdeen Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Christy Ann Jones, Bourbon County, Kimberly Lynn (Barry) Snapp, Cynthiana, Julie Kay (Doug) Christopher, Lexington; four grandchildren, Erica Lynn Shadd, Rachael Kay (Kris) Gorlow, Jamie Carol Snapp, Nicholas Allen Spivey; and two great grandchildren, Lance and Laelan Gorlow. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucille Jones; and three brothers, Howard, Huston, and Billy Jones. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 5, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Philip Huffman with burial in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Casket bearers will be Barry Snapp, Kris Gorlow, Lance Gorlow, Bob Iery, Mike Jones, and Ron Sparks. Honorary bearers will be Doug Christopher, Ritsel Sparks, Gordon Sparks, Dr. Murray West, Virgil Smith, Lee Jarrard, and J.R. Dailey. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
