Virginia Lee Klaren Buckner, 73, a teacher at Tates Creek Elementary for 33 years, widow of Winstead Thomas Buckner, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014. She was born December 17, 1940 in Petersburg, Virginia, daughter of the late Robert Lee and Willeta DeLong Tucker Klaren. Virginia was a graduate of Lafayette High School and received her Bachelor's Degree from Morehead State University. She was a member of Saint Peter's Episcopal Church, Delta Zeta Sorority, Lafayette Alumni Association, Daughters of Colonial Wars, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Daughters of the Seventeenth Century, Sons and Daughters of Pilgrims, Daughters of American Colonists, First Families of Kentucky, Kentucky Huguenot Society, American Colonists and Patriots, Huguenot Society of the Founders of Manakin Colony of Virginia, Dames of Court of Honor, Running Mede, New England Women, Jamestown Society, U.S. Daughters of 1812, Colonial Dames of America, Boonesboro Society, and Cameo Society. Virginia is survived by two sisters, Roberta K. (David M.) Watts, Stacia Kaufmann; a brother, Robert N. Klaren; two nieces, Robyn K. (John) Johnson, Renee D. Klaren; nephew, Nick Klaren; great niece, Ashtin T. Morgan; two great nephews, Reece Johnson, Ryan T. Johnson; and five god children, Brent Buckner Salisbury, Nancy Lindley Phillips, Tom Barrow Stephens, Holly Wells Sorrell, and Michael Lane Wells. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, at Saint Peter's Episcopal Church in Paris by the Reverend Christina Brannock with burial in Paris Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Saint Peter's Episcopal Church, Paris-Bourbon County Historical Society, or Hopewell Museum. Hinton-Turner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
