William Virgil \"Weege\" Burroughs died October 30, 2011 at home. He was 96 years old. He was born June 26, 1915 to the late James and Mariah Smith Burroughs in Millersburg, Kentucky. He was educated in the Bourbon County schools, having graduated from the old High School that was located in Millersburg. Mr. Burroughs served his country in World War II in the US Air Force. Shortly after the war he married Mary Elizabeth Collins of Fleming County. He returned to Bourbon County to farm his family farm that he loved. He was associated with several farm oriented jobs including the Paris Tobacco Warehouse and the Paris Stockyards. He retired from the warehouse after 70 years and the stockyards after 40 years.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Elizabeth. He later married for a second time to Ann Clayton Butler of Millersburg and formerly of Paris. They were married for 24 years.

Mr. Burroughs was a member of the Millersburg Christian Church and attended the Millersburg Presbyterian Church in later years. In 2010 he was honored for his community service by being selected Millersburg Citizen of the Year. He had served a term as Mayor and several terms as a member of the Millersburg City Council. He was a Director of the old Millersburg Farmers Exchange Bank. He also served on the board of Hurst Home Insurance Company.

He is survived by his wife Ann, a dear friend Rob Newton of Nicholas County, two good friends Bill and Pat Harney of Millersburg, a step-daughter Ann Butler and a step-son Bill (Patti) Butler both of Louisville and 3 step-grandchildren, Sarah Butler of Chicago, Illinois, Will Butler of Tucson, Arizona and Thomas (Courtney) Butler of Louisville.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 3, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Erin Rouse with burial in Millersburg Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rob Newton, Zach Newton, Merle Wasson, Bill Harney, Jesse Mitchell, Will Butler and Thomas Butler. Visitation will be after 12 noon Thursday at the funeral home.
