William Brooks Morris, Sr., Main Street, owner of Morris Insurance, husband of Judy Duncan Morris, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at his home. He was born October 18, 1939 in Nicholas County, son of the late Hudson Charles and Louise McKay Morris, a graduate of Paris High School, and attended Georgetown College. Bill was a US Navy veteran serving on the USS Glennon and was on the basketball and boxing teams. He was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), American Legion Post #30 where he had served as Commander, Post Commander, and Secretary; a member of the Paris Lions Club where he had served as President, Vice President, Secretary, and received the Lion of the Year Award; a Kentucky Colonel; a Rooster Booster; and was Past President of the Paris High School Alumni Association. Bill is also survived by a daughter, Crystal Dawn Morris Connery, Sarasota, FL; a son, William Brooks Morris, Jr., Paris; two granddaughters, Krissa Brooke Morris, Caitlyn McKay Morris; a brother, Hudson C. (Jean) Morris, Jr., Winchester; a sister, Barbara Cumber, Sarasota, FL; and his mother-in-law, Minnie Fryman, Paris. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 22, at the First Christian Church by Rev. Jeff Bell with burial in the Carlisle Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jim LeMaster, Jim Lovell, Shawn Morris, Sam Morris, Wayne Rabon, Richard Eads, Carl F. Bates, Gayle Rees, and H.C. Morris. Honorary bearers will be Paula Marcum, Frances Feeback, Sam Hutchison, Sherry Williamson, C.J. Caudill, Judge Larry Tincher, Lee Wylie, and members of the Paris Lions Club and American Legion Post #30. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church Music Department or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
