Wilma Jo Watkins, 75, Lilleston Avenue, retired caretaker for First Christian Church, widow of Franklin Carl Watkins, died Monday, April 25, 2011 at Harrison Memorial Hospital. She was born May 26, 1935 in Bourbon County, daughter of the late Irvine Collier and Nellie May Barlow Gaunce. Wilma was a graduate of Nicholas County High School and was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Barry Ritchie, Paris; a grandson, Chad Allen and Jolene Steele, Lexington; great grandson, Micah Liam Steel; great granddaughter, Shealy Bandy; caregiver, Betty Ritchie; long time high school friends, Juanita Roe, Virgaleen Worthington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Roe, Linda May; and a brother, Charles Gaunce. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Jeff Bell with burial in Carlisle Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jerry Clark, Lynwood Roe, Stoner Parsons, Jerry Price, Barry Ritchie, and Chad Steele. Honorary bearers will be Betty Ritchie, Juanita Roe, Virgaleen Worthington, Margaret Mason, Mattie Garrett, staff of Grand Haven Nursing Home, and members of First Christian Church. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Thursday. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church.
