Obituary

Margaret Singer Kerr, age 98, of Lexington and former longtime resident of Paris, went to Heaven on May 7, 2020, at her home in Lexington, due to natural causes. She was born on March 24, 1922, in Scott County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Thomas and Eugenia Stone Singer and was a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College in Winchester. After college, she became a hostess for the Southern Railway Streamline; was a retired business woman as co-owner of Kerr’s Service Center; a member of Central Baptist Church, having been a charter member and served on various committees over the years; former Bourbon County School Board member; Bourbon County Hospital Board member; and was named Business Woman of the Year in Bourbon County.

She is survived by her daughter, P.J. Kerr of Lexington; a sister, Jean Derickson of Powell County; and three nieces, Virginia Todd and husband Phillip, Carol Overbee and husband Roger and Jennifer Derickson, all of Powell County.

The family would like to express their thanks to Joy, Margaret, Evonne, Johnita, Tommy and Bonnie for the excellent care given to Margaret.

There will be a memorial service for Margaret Singer Kerr at Central Baptist Church that will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Bluegrass Hospice Care, 1733 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, Kentucky 40504 or Central Baptist Church, 829 High Street, Paris, Kentucky 40361. www.hintonturner.com

Peggy, I was saddened to hear about Margaret's death. At age 98, she had a very full life and was a true lady in every sense of the word. She was very important to our lives and was such a supportive board member for Wm's career. I remember meeting her at a Welcome Meeting for us. But the thing I remember most was that she came to see me the summer we came to Bourbon County and brought me a copy of DAILY GUIDEPOSTS which has become a significant part of my morning devotion time from then until now. What a blessing that has been. She was so cute, always dressed attractively (with perfectly beautiful hair) and so fun to be with. She, Diane P, and I enjoyed our lunches and talks. She was a jewell and I am so happy to have had her be a part of my life. Wendy Birdwell
